A LOCAL Golf Club has raised more than £30,000 for a Leigh-based children’s cancer charity.
Southend Golf Club based in Belfairs Park Woods, Leigh, handed over a cheque for £31,750 to Gold Geese following a year of fundraising. Katie Southgate received the cheque from Golf Club captain Lee Porter.
Ms Southgate said: “Lee at Southend Golf Club! You are amazing.
“Lee became captain of the little Golf Club in Belfairs Woods last year and said he’d ‘do his best to raise us some money’ as his chosen charity.
“12 months later, his donation reached nearly £32k!
“Huge thanks goes out to Lee and every member of the club and their families for fundraising. With a special thank you to Chris Donovon for nominating us for a big contribution via his work.
“This money will be put towards maintaining our support locally and reaching more families facing childhood cancer.”
Ms Southgate founded Gold Geese in 2018 and is the charity’s CEO.
