THE Friends of Leigh Library Gardens (FOLLG) have overseen the installation of a new entrance at Leigh’s Library Gardens.
The new environmentally-friendly solution will prevent vehicles churning up mud near the entrance to the popular gardens.
Chairman of FOLLG, Valerie Morgan, explained: “This much needed add-on to the entrance drive to the gardens will prevent lorries churning the grass up after rain.
“It was provided by a generous local benefactor, but was installed thanks also go to WH Concrete and Mark 1 Hire.
“It was totally privately funded, but with council permission.”
The council specified that tarmac could not be used, so this entrance is made of the same surface as The Peoples Path, which was also paid for by donations several years ago.
Ms Morgan continued: “The ongoing plan is to remove the remaining grass and replant the border to hopefully make a more impressive entrance to the gardens.”
