A LOCAL train firm has announced hundreds of extra train services from Southend to London as part of a raft of timetable changes.
Rail company c2c said the changes will commence from June 2, when there’ll be two new morning peak services and an additional 190 off-peak services.
The schedule adjustments include the introduction of two new services.
One departs from Leigh at 7.08 am, heading to London Fenchurch Street with stops at all stations up to Basildon, followed by West Ham, Limehouse, and Fenchurch Street.
The other, departing at 7.45 am, runs from Shoebury to London Fenchurch Street.
The firm also announced the reintroduction of four off-peak trains per hour on weekdays in both directions, from Fenchurch Street to Shoebury.
Rob Mullen, c2c’s managing director, said: “Our scheduling teams continually monitor passenger loadings and customer travel patterns and I am delighted that we are now in a position where we can introduce additional morning peak services.
“We’re also doubling the number of off-peak services we run between Fenchurch Street and Shoebury via Basildon each Monday to Friday.
“We recognise that many of our customers’ working, shopping, leisure and educational arrangements and travel requirements have changed since the pandemic.
“The reintroduction of a frequent 15-minute, four trains per hour, off-peak service will give the communities and people we serve access to vital services at times that best suit them.”
