AN RNLI worker has run 28 miles in a Mayday Mile challenge to help the charity save lives.

Jonathan Charnock, who works with the RNLI in Southend, completed a mile a day in May as part of an annual camping.

Mr Charnock ran in full RNLI kit a mile every day for the month of May, culminating in running the full length of the pier, which is 1.3 miles, for his last run, achieved in a time of 12 minutes.

For this final mile, Mr Charnock was joined on the run by local boatmen Thomas Ager-Lowden and Angus Browne.

Mr Charnock, who raised nearly £2,500 during the 28 days, said: “the final day of the run was on 31st of May at 5pm.

“Joining me were the awesome dynamic duo, Thomas Ager-Lowden and Angus Browne

“Both kept the pace up and helped push me through the mile.”

Mr Ager-Lowden is a keen sailor, and works professionally on the Thames with Uber Boat by Thames Clippers.

Mr Browne runs leigh businesses Brownes Thames Estuary Boat and Fishing Trips, operated from Leigh Marina.
