A FREE three-day music festival lit Leigh up with music over the weekend of June 28.

The Fake Folk Festival, which raised funds for the annual Leigh Folk Festival, took place at the Fishermen’s Chapel, in New Road, and saw twenty acts donating their time for free to raise funds for next year’s official Leigh Folk Festival.

For 32 years, the Leigh Folk Festival has run in the Old Town and its environs, but organisers Leigh Folk Arts decide this year to take a hiatus, but staged the mini “Fake” event to gear up interest and raise funds for the Leigh Folk Festival to make a comeback in 2025.

The weekend was headlined by Marine Mammal and the Locals on Friday, The Famous Potatoes on Saturday, and The Gardeners on Sunday.

The final amount raised is yet to be confirmed, but hundreds of pounds have already been donated by the online donation page.
