HUNDREDS of stuffed teddy bears parachuted from the top of Rayleigh tower in aid of parish funds.
Residents and visitors gathered at Holy Trinity Church for their family fun day.
Hundreds of teddy bears took the 70ft plunge to help towards the up-keep of a 640-year-old church, with each creature sponsored for its journey.
Ian Gale, volunteer said the event has been taking place for about 15 years, and has so far raised about £10,000.
The parachutes themselves are made by volunteers at the church. He added: “It’s a good family event and brings a lot of people to the church.

The event on Saturday July 6th also saw families enjoy a handcrafted card, stalls, and BBQ refreshments.
