A LEIGH wine bar is merging quizzing and community involvement in a new fundraising initiative.
The Cork Dork on The Ridgway is engaging patrons while supporting various charitable causes with a new series of hosted quizzes, each dedicated to a different charity.
So far, they have raised over £300 for The Roding Ward, and £220 for Leigh Library Gardens in their latest fully-booked quizzes.
Benedict Hurley of The Cork Dork said: “We have been really enjoying our position in the local community, as a friendly place to gather, much like a local pub.
“We’re surrounded by many local charities and causes, and thought we could create a go-to monthly event to help recognise them; and what brings people together better than a good old-fashioned quiz!”
He added “Thank you so much to everyone who attended the first of many of these nights.”
Affirming their hope to make the events a big part of the calendar locally, the business said: “We’re thrilled to confirm our quiz nights will be on the third Monday of every month.
“Each event will offer participants the chance to enjoy a fun evening of general knowledge questions while supporting worthy causes, with each quiz dedicated to a specific charity.
“If you have a cause you’d like to see supported, The Cork Dork encourages you to get in touch with them to discuss it.”
Teams of up to four people can enter for £20, and booking is essential.
The first prize is a £100 gift voucher to The Cork Dork, and there will also be a raffle if the charity decides to organize one.
100% of the entry fees will be donated to the chosen charity.
Following each quiz, the winning team from each monthly event will also qualify for a grand final, to be held on Monday December 16, where they will compete for the title of quiz winner of 2024.
