PUPILS at Eastwood Primary School have raised over £1,000 for local homeless charity HARP.

The young social champions recently took part in a rough-sleep event for HARP, raising £1,372 for the local cause which helps people affected by homelessness with support and advice.

As part of the fundraising initiative, the pupils and teachers took part in team games and learnt about fire safety with a campfire.

The school’s project for HARP is part of their multiple projects aimed focusing on social responsibility, which has resulted in the school being recognised by Sir David Attenborough.

These projects have also seen them create a marine pollution awareness gallery inspired by environmental activist artist, Alejandro Duran, and develop an endangered animal scheme, where each class is named after an endangered animal, including Chimpanzees, Tigers, Koalas, and the Scottish Wildcat.

Debora Donoghue, headteacher at Edwards Hall Primary School, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to see how all of our pupils have loved being involved in all of these projects as committed, passionate, and thoughtful young individuals.

“At Edwards Hall, we are dedicated to providing the best possible opportunities for our pupils to grow and develop as responsible and well-rounded citizens, and our social responsibility initiatives are testament to that.

“Our pupils have achieved amazing things already, and we are so excited to see all they accomplish in the future.”
