Local Police Patrols

POLICE officers have assured the public that they will be stepping up visibility and being on patrol on the streets of Southend “all summer.”

 Officers have been seen out on proactive patrols to retain order, following scenes of unrest both in the city and nationally over the past month.

 A night of disorder which saw machete fights break out on Southend Seafront has reportedly deterred tourists from visiting the popular seaside resort.

 A spokesperson said: “We’ve been out on patrol with partners in Southend to speak to locals and make sure they know they can speak to our officers if they’ve got a problem.

 “We will be on the streets of Southend all summer, so please come and speak to one of our officers if you have got a concern.

 “Our city is a great place to visit and enjoy in the sunshine, and we hope to see you soon.”
