CWRA police talk

 

THE next meeting of Chalkwell Ward Residents Association (CWRA) will open with a talk by Inspector Jane on September 11th.

Childs of Essex Police, in which residents will learn about how current local challenges are being

addressed and have the opportunity to ask questions.

The meeting will take place at Westcliff Baptist Church, 560 London Road, Westcliff, at 7:30pm.

Annual membership costs £5 per year per individual or £10 per household

Non-members may attend in an observer-only capacity at a cost of £1

per person.

Driver fined

 

A SPEEDING driver caught behind the wheel above the limit has been handed a fine.

 Samuel Ball, of Westcliff, was driving a Ford on the A16 in Crowland, between the junctions with the B1166 and Peterborough Road, when he was found exceeding the national speed limit.

 The offence, which occurred on May 7, was proved via the single justice procedure and the 51-year-old was fines £379 at Lincoln Magistrate’s Court.

 His driving record was endorsed with three penalty points.

 

Grass cutting schedule

 

A NEW system is online to allow residents to check when the grass in their neighbourhood will be cut by the council.

 Southend Council has published the new grass-cutting schedule following criticism of the unruly verges across the city.

 This schedule divides the city into 18 grass cutting regions, to be completed by two teams.

The scheme has been spearheaded by councillor Lydia Hyde, responsible for the environment.

 Coun Hyde said: “Residents can now see the areas that are coming next, they know which area their road is in”.

The grass-cutting, which has been underway since early April, will continue until October.

Pop Princesses at Palace

 

A MAGICAL show where beautiful Princesses become Pop Stars is flying into the Palace Theatre this August.

 A “children’s pop concert with a big difference,” the four fabulous Fairy tale Princesses are back with their new show, featuring a soundtrack of top pop hits from artists such as Little Mix, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift. Meghan Trainor and Miley Cyrus, plus all the best songs from favourite films and musicals.

The show takes place on Wednesday August 28 at 1pm.

A127 collision

 

A CAR turned over onto its roof as a result of a rush hour collision on the A127 westbound new Kent Elms Corner.

 Motorists were hit with delays back to the Tesco roundabout following the incident, as the road was closed after the crash.

 Emergency services were called to A127 following the incident yesterday morning at 6:45 am on August 14th.

Emergency services have since provided an update and confirmed there was no injuries.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “we were called just before 6:45 am with reports of a road traffic collision on the A127 Westbourne involving two vehicles.

“An ambulance and an ambulance officer vehicle was sent to the scene.

 “Two patients were assessed at the scene but no transportation the hospital was required.”

 Essex Police, who also attended the incident, reported that no one had been injured.

 

Comedy at Royal Hotel
