THE Music Man Project’s new summer school has proved a success this August.

The Music Man Project, which makes music education accessible for people with disabilities, is an award winning and record-breaking charity.

Founded in Leigh by Sir David Stanley BEM, the charity held its inaugural Summer School in Leigh’s Salvation army church, with three days filled with music and performances.

Over the school, participants got to try out instruments and take part in singing, helped along by visits and lessons from tuba virtuoso Martin Blessett, a trumpet masterclass with Jemma Andrews, songwriter Anita Carmichael, and local choirs Love2Sign and Southend Vox.

A spokesperson for The Music Man Project said: “Thank you so much to all the special guest performers, helpers, parents, carers and volunteers who made it all happen.

“We’ve all had such a terrific three days at Leigh-on-Sea Salvation Army and we can’t wait to do it all again next year.”
