MPs Visit Hospital

SOUTHEND West and East MPs took a tour of Southend Hospital to view progress on the emergency department.  

 Labour MP for Leigh and Southend West David Burton-Sampson and Labour MP for Southend West and Rochford Bayo Alaba visited the Hospital on August 23, meeting the Senior Leadership Team, including CEO Matthew Hopkins.

 Mr. Burton- Sampson commented: “We had the opportunity to tour a large amount of the site and also to see some of the work being done to improve the Emergency Department and the new LINAC bunker, which will improve radiotherapy treatment for cancer sufferers.

 “It was also a good opportunity to discuss the challenges our hospital currently faces and the pressures they are working under.

 “We will work together with the fantastic team at the hospital and our government to start to tackle these challenges head on.”
