Leigh Charity Quiz

A LEIGH wine bar held its latest charity quiz, raising money for local causes.

 The Cork Dork on The Ridgway has been engaging patrons while supporting various charitable causes, with a new series of monthly quizzes, hosted by quizmaster Richard.

 Each dedicated to a different charity, with the latest raising £280 for the Essex wildlife Trust Centre at Belfairs Park Woods.

 The winning team this time were a couple who won a £100 voucher to spend at the bar.

 Benedict Hurley of The Cork Dork said: “Our photo shows quiz master Richard and Grant, the head of Belfairs Wildlife Centre holding his fundraised money.

 “Next to him is the winning team holding their first prize, which is £100 voucher to spend at the cork dork.

 “A very clever couple, just two people against a full bar of teams of four: very impressive!”

 Mr Hurley added: “We have been really enjoying our position in the local community, as a friendly place to gather, much like a local pub.

 “We’re surrounded by many local charities and causes, and thought we could create a go-to monthly event to help recognise them; and what brings people together better than a good old-fashioned quiz!”

 Previous recipients of the fundraised money have included The Roding Ward, and Leigh Library Gardens.

 Quizzes are held on the third Monday of every month.
