Rayleigh Autumn Show - RAYLEIGH Horticultural Society (RHS) held a successful Autumn show, drawing hundreds of attendees to the community event to view a plethora of entries.

RAYLEIGH Horticultural Society (RHS) held a successful Autumn show, drawing hundreds of attendees to the community event to view a plethora of entries.

 The winner of an award for a collection of vegetables was Ken Holland, whilst the best horticultural entry went to Matt Oliver for his display of three dahlias.

 The best domestic class went to Carole Noble for a jar of homemade mincemeat. The best entry in handicraft classes went to Ann Jolly with a watercolour painting of Battlesbridge.

  Nikki Paterson won the best floral arrangement for an arrangement entitled ‘London Landmark’

 The overall winner in the new competitor classes was Gavin Haslett, whilst the

Ugliest vegetable went to Peter Noble for his unique carrot.

 The Children’s Jubilee Cup (up to 9 years) went to Delilah Noble, and the Children’s Andrews Cup (10 – 16 years) had the joint winners of Leo Cairns and Dexter Noble.

Anna Stavrinides won the Children’s Open Class (All ages up to 16 years) with her model of a Halloween witch.

 Pat Hill said: “The show was well attended by the public. 

 “A total of 37 Society members put in 351 separate entries.”
