Swimmers Team Award

PLUCKY open water swimmers from Hadleigh picked up an award as they took the plunge and competed painted in a series of races in London.

 A team of 30 swimmers from the Hadleigh Plungers was awarded the “team trophy “at the Dock2Dock swimming event at the Royal Albert docks.

 The event saw hundreds of other swimmers amass for the competition.

 The whole group took part in a range of challenges, from 1.5 km to a whole 15 km with every single summer competing.

 Catherine Sutcliffe, 59, from Hadleigh reportedly said the event was a great success, adding that the team “just keeps getting better.

 “Being a team is particular important for the swimming group and its testament to their kindness and support of each other.

“They have seen the support we give each other and how we work together, and now we’ve won a team award,” she added.

The team are now looking to events in the future to test their metal.

 She reportedly said “having a team with you can make it a lot more enjoyable and pleasurable. Getting an award is really exciting.”

 The group based in Hadleigh are always looking for new members and say they would welcome recruits of all abilities.

 They have a venue at Hadleigh Country Park and have weekly swims on Wednesdays from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Saturday from 7:30 am to 9:30 am.

 Sessions cost £7 with an annual NOWCA membership required at £15.
