Carole King Tribute

CAROLE King has been one of the most influential songwriters of our time.

 For more than five decades, she has written for and been recorded by many different types of artists for a wide range of audiences, communicating with beauty and dignity the universal human emotions of love, joy, pain and loss.

 Now her wonderful songs and her courageous life story are being brought to the stage at Rayleigh’s Mill Arts & Events Centre on 22nd November.

 So often let down by the men in her life, Carole King was married four times, her emotional struggles informed her music and moved millions. Her classic album Tapestry, first released in 1971, thrust her into the limelight after years of collaboration with others, when her talents had been underestimated.

 Award winning singer and pianist Claire Harper, accompanied by Tim Broughton will be playing all the songs from the Tapestry album plus many other Carole Kings classics (including ‘Up on the Roof’)

 Despite all the challenges, Carole King lived her life with courage and fortitude, in recent years she received the recognition she deserved together with many honours.  US President Barack Obama presented her with the fifth Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song and she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 2021.
