A WESTCLIFF girl’s school have achieved “phenomenal success” in the English Schools Athletics Track and Field Cup.
Junior and intermediate girls’ teams from St Bernard’s High School qualified from the Essex first round and advanced to the East Anglia Regional B final in the English Schools’ Athletic Association (ESAA) competition, the first time the school has reached this far.
Since February, the pupils have been training with dedication and commitment, an effort paid off with their historic achievement.
A school spokesperson said: “Our junior and intermediate girls’ teams have made us proud. This is the first time in a long while that we have reached this stage of the ESAA
“The Intermediate Girls team secured 1st place out of nine schools, while the Junior Girls finished an impressive fifth out of nine.
“A huge congratulations to our amazing athletes for their hard work and dedication! Next year, we aim to go even further and qualify for the national finals!”
