REPRESENTATIVES from the Sibelius Lodge No. 9448 presented a cheque to Essex’s children’s hospice for more than £11,000.
The Lodge has supported Little Havens Hospices in Thundersley for more than 25 years, and its latest donation of £11,181 was raised by Worshipful Master Bernie Smith and his fellow members through their annual Ladies Dinner and a sponsored tandem skydive.
Bernie was gifted a skydive by his fellow members and decided to raise vital funds for Little Havens to add to their fundraising total.
The Lodge, which has raised more than £43,000 over the years, visited Little Havens earlier this month and was greeted by Lauren Summers, Transition Lead Nurse at the hospice, who showed them around the specialist facilities and gardens, which are a lifeline to local families.
Little Havens’ free specialist care and support for local babies, children, young people and families is only possible thanks to the kindness and generosity of the local community and groups like the Sibelius Lodge.
Lauren said: “We must raise more than £83,000 a week to provide care to every child, young person and family that needs us during the most difficult times, helping them to make every day count when they have been told there is no cure.
“It never ceases to amaze us how generous our community is, and it was an honour to show the Sibelius Lodge around the hospice, highlighting just how much their donations mean to the families we care for across Essex.”
