Outrage At Water Seepage - RESIDENTS of a Leigh Road are voicing their frustration over an unresolved water leak and deteriorating road conditions.

RESIDENTS of a Leigh Road are voicing their frustration over an unresolved water leak and deteriorating road conditions.

The problem on Rayleigh Road, which started as a minor defect, has reportedly worsened over time, leading to significant inconvenience and safety concerns for local residents.

The Council conducted an inspection in the summer, reportedly leaving a cavity that is now filling with water, and increasing both the risk of damage to nearby properties and potential hazards for pedestrians and drivers.

Mrs P Lawson, of Rayleigh Road, explained: “After an inspection in August of this year, the road was dug up and cordoned off.

“The cavity has since filled with water and is now seeping through the surrounding area.”

In a letter sent by the council to a resident of Rayleigh Road, seen by Leigh News, they stated: “Thank you for your report.

 “An inspection was completed.

“The defect does not meet with our investigatory level for repair, so will not be repaired at this time.

“The road will continue to be monitored on the regular routine inspection of this road.”

This statement has sparked anger among local taxpayers, who feel that the council’s decision to delay repairs is unacceptable, particularly given the ongoing deterioration of the area.

Mrs P Lawson added: “We as council tax payers are angry and frustrated as to why this has been left in such a mess.

“I do hope by reporting this, it will be able to help the council tax payers of Rayleigh Drive to get to the bottom of this dreadful mismanagement, that we have to put up with day after day.”
