THE Chairman of the Leigh Branch of The Royal British Legion has thanked resident for their donations during this year’s Poppy Appeal, and their attendance at services and events.
Chairman Keith Evans said: “Remembrance weekend was very busy, with our own Leigh British Legion Standard Bearer, Matt Garfirth, participating in the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in the presence of His Majesty The King.
“Our branch was honoured to participate in the Remembrance Service and Parade, reading the exhortation on both Sunday and Monday, alongside City Members of Parliament and Civic Leaders.”
Leigh’s 75th Remembrance Parade and Service took place at St. Clement’s Church, and was well supported by local residents.
Mr Evans added: “Thank you to the residents for their generosity in supporting this year’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
“We are also grateful to the groups, individual volunteers, and businesses who assisted with collections in Leigh and the surrounding areas.
“Once again, thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and participated in remembering, and to all the groups who contributed to making the occasion meaningful.”
