SOUTHEND Airport in Essex has announced a new daily flight to Cornwall’s most popular surfing destinations.
Flights to Newquay will take off from April this year with a new airline partner, Eastern Airways.
Now on sale, the route adds a domestic service for customers across Essex, London and East Anglia, becoming a milestone twentieth holiday destination from the airport.
Not only can passengers take advantage of Newquay’s surfing beaches, but the route makes the whole county of Cornwall accessible, with rugged cliffs, mining heritage, bird life, coastal views, stunning geology, peaceful beaches and quaint villages.
Southend Airport previously operated flights to Newquay between April 2019 and January 2020, as Nigel Mayes, Business Development Manager at London Southend Airport commented, its return as a route option offers: “a great way to start the new year, connecting passengers from coast to capital and into London with our on-site train line, just 43 minutes into Stratford or 52 minutes to London Liverpool Street.”
Roger Hage, Commercial Director at Eastern Airways said: “Adding London Southend for 2025 as our second London airport connection to Newquay Cornwall follows the success the team in Southend have shown in the increasing strength of the easyJet product.”
This news of the new route comes as Southend Airport awaits the return of a three-aircraft base with airline partner, easyJet, this summer.
Amy Smith, Head of Commercial, Cornwall Airport Newquay added: “We’re confident this route will be incredibly popular with travellers from the east of England looking to experience Cornwall’s stunning coastline and rich heritage this summer season.
“The new service from Eastern Airways will provide a convenient and efficient way to travel between the east and west of our country and further supplements our London connectivity, meeting the increased leisure demand in the summer months.”
Eastern Airways will operate daily flights to Newquay from Thursday April 3 with fares starting from £59.99 one-way.
