RAYLEIGH and Wickford MP and Shadow Armed Forces Minister, Mark Francois, recently attended a parliamentary event to show his support for the vital work of the Royal British Legion (RBL).
The event, held in Speaker’s House, aimed to introduce newly elected MPs to the RBL’s work while also strengthening ties with returning MPs, including those who have served in the Armed Forces.
Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the charity’s ongoing efforts to support veterans and their families.
During the event, guests also heard from Gemma Barnes, vice-captain of Team UK, who is set to travel to Canada for the Invictus Games. Taking place in Vancouver, the
Games will bring together over 500 competitors from 23 nations.
Commenting after the event, Mr Francois said: “As the Shadow Armed Forces Minister, I was delighted to support the Royal British Legion, which remains a cornerstone of support for our veterans, offering a wide range of services to those who have served our country.
“If any of my constituents who are veterans need assistance, I would strongly encourage them to reach out to the Royal British Legion by calling 0808 802 8080.”
