Farm Tax  Challenge - RAYLEIGH and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, has voiced his support for the “Stop the Farm Tax” campaign, led by farmers opposing Labour’s drastic changes to inheritance tax on agricultural land.

RAYLEIGH and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, has voiced his support for the “Stop the Farm Tax” campaign, led by farmers opposing Labour’s drastic changes to inheritance tax on agricultural land.

He argues that despite previous promises to support rural communities, the Government has unveiled an inheritance tax reform that will penalise more than 100,000 farms nationwide.

The proposed reforms will make it harder for the next generation to continue their work, putting family farms at serious risk and exacerbating the cost-of-living crisis.

Commenting on his support for the campaign, Mr Francois said: “Family farms are the backbone of our agricultural sector, and these plans will drive many to the brink of collapse.

“This is a political choice by Keir Starmer’s Government, and it is the wrong one.

“I will continue to fight for our farmers and oppose this reckless tax. I urge everyone who cares about British farming and food security to sign the petition at stopthefarmtax.com and send Labour a clear message: this tax must be scrapped.”
