A TEENAGE boy was allegedly threatened with a “Rambo sword” during a knifepoint robbery at Rayleigh station.
The victim’s family posted messages on social media, stating that the boy had been threatened with a pocket knife and a “Rambo sword” at Rochford station on Saturday, March 15 at around 12.30pm.
According to the reports of social media, the victim was showed a weapon before the assailants reportedly said: “to give me your coat or I will slice your throat “.
The victims coat was stolen during the incident.
Julie Gooding, non-aligned counsel for Hawkwell West, admitted the incident was deeply concerning.
She reportedly said: “To say I am concerned isn’t enough.
“I’m appalled by this incident, for his safety and the general antisocial behaviour, which I have also been receiving reports about.
“The police are aware of the issues happening locally and are working with the local community to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“I am sorry for the victim suffering at the hands of the minority.”
British Transport Police have since confirmed they are investigating the reports and urged anyone with any information to come forward.
A spokesman for the police said: “British Transport Police received reports of a robbery at Rochford railway station at around 12.30pm on Saturday.
“Enquiries into this incident are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 284 of 15 March.”
