Stabbing - Two Convicted - TWO people who were tracked by police in the days after a violent incident in Eastwood have been convicted.

TWO people who were tracked by police in the days after a violent incident in Eastwood have been convicted.

The convictions come after a detailed investigation left them no choice but to admit their guilt.

Police were called at 4.30pm on Saturday October 5 to reports of a man in his 20s who had been found with stab wounds in Rayleigh Road. He was taken to hospital for treatment and fortunately his injuries were not life-threatening.

Through early investigation work, Police identified that the victim had been seen to be chased by a group of people who had got out of two vehicles.

A number of targeted arrests took place in the days following the incident.

Two of those arrested, 24-year-old Josh Parsons, of Baxter Avenue, Southend and a 17-year-old boy from Southend, appeared in Basildon Crown Court on Tuesday 1 April.

The 17-year-old admitted GBH with intent and possession of a bladed article whilst Parson admitted violent disorder and possession of a bladed article.

Both will be sentenced at the same court on Thursday 8 May.

Chief Inspector Dave Browning, District Commander for Southend, said: “We cannot, and will not, tolerate people carrying weapons in Southend and putting the safety of others at risk.

“Our response and thorough investigation has meant that Josh Parsons and the 17 year-old boy have been left with no option than to admit the offences against them.

“We carried out specific work in the Autumn of last year to tackle violence, and those responsible for it, which was hugely successful and leading to a reduction in violent crime by 40 percent.

“As we move towards the summer you will again see my officers out in your neighbourhoods ensuring you can enjoy our beautiful beaches, lively city centre, and fantastic attractions safely. And we’ll continue our work with our partners at Southend-on-Sea City Council to deal with the issues that matter to you.

“It’s why we’ve consistently seen crime fall here, with nearly 1,400 fewer offences in the last 12 months, while solving more crime, and solving a greater percentage of crime than anywhere else in Essex.”
