OFFICERS investigating an assault in Westcliff have arrested a 17 year-old boy.

It was reported that a woman in her 20s was assaulted and a car damaged in Westbourne Grove at around 2.15pm on Monday 7 April), near to the slip road than joins the A127.

A 17 year-old boy from Westcliff was later arrested on suspicion of ABH, possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage. He has been released on bail until 5 July.

Detectives are investigating and appealing for anyone who saw anything to get in touch.

A police statement said: “We believe there were a number of people in cars in the area at the time and need them to come forward.
