THE MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, Mark Francois, gave out a special fundraising award at the Friends of Holy Trinity Church’s recent AGM.
Mr Francois, who is also the group’s president, awarded long-time supporter Ann Colombi for raising more than £3,000 through events such as cake sales and coffee mornings.
The AGM was also addressed by Rayleigh Town Museum chairman Mike Davies, who spoke about the town’s listed buildings.
The group, founded in the mid-1990s, has raised around £900,000 to date for the upkeep and refurbishment of the part 12th-century parish church in the heart of the town.
This includes £23,000 raised in the year to December 2024.
Mr Francois said: “The Friends of Holy Trinity are a vibrant local charity, who do great work in helping to preserve our beautiful parish church.
“It was nice to be able to congratulate Ali and her colleagues for another year of fundraising achievements, as the Friends work towards hitting the £1 million fundraising milestone, hopefully within the next few years.”
