A TALENTED footballer from Rayleigh is seeking help from residents to help him reach the world’s top deaf football tournament.
Former Sweyne Park School student Matthew Oaten aims to represent Great Britain at the Deaflympics 2025, and is attempting to raise £2,000 to cover essential costs for his participation with the GB Deaf Men’s Football team.
Mr Oaten explained: “I need your help to raise money for the GB Deaf Men’s Football team to ensure we have the resources we need to perform at our best as we prepare for the Deaflympics 2025.
“To make this possible, I’m aiming to raise an initial £2,000 to cover my participation with Great Britain Deaf Football.”
The funds will go towards training camps, training kit, nutrition and recovery, equipment, accommodation, as well as admin and operational costs, and fees for Tokyo.
Mr Oaten adds: “Your donation will give me the opportunity to attend GB Deaf Football training camps and be available for selection for the Deaflympics 2025 in Tokyo (the final squad will be selected later in the year).”
Every donation helps Mr Oaten get one step closer to representing GB in Tokyo. At the time of writing, Mr Oaten has raised £826.25 of the £2,000.00 target.
