THE café and bar at Leigh Community Centre has closed, prompting a search for a new operator.

Leigh Town Council announced that Kelly’s Kitchen and SK Events, the operators of the café and bar, have left the Elm Road community Centre. As a result of the closure, the café will be temporarily closed until a new operator is installed.

A spokesperson for Leigh Town Council said: “Leigh-on-Sea Town Council are sad to see Kelly’s Kitchen and SK Events, the operators of the Café and Bar, leave the community centre.

“The Council would like to take this opportunity to thank Kelly’s Kitchen and SK Events for all they have undertaken for the Council and wish them well in their new adventure.”

They continued; “The Council will follow appropriate procedures in seeking a new operator to ensure the continuance of the café and bar.”

Leigh Town Council assured residents that they will continue to provide the Over 60’s Lunch Club and make available hot water facilities for any hirer who usually includes liquid refreshments during their sessions.

The temporary closure will also allow the council to make some renovations to the area.

They said: “The Council is shortly to embark on major works to the roof of the foyer area and this seems an opportune time to also carry out a refurbishment of the café/bar so that, with a new operator, we can reopen as soon as possible, providing a new service for our hirers and the residents of Leigh who support the Centre every day, for which we are very grateful.”
