Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a large fire in a field in Rayleigh on Friday 18 July.

Officers attended the scene near Amersham Court at around 5pm to support fire colleagues who were tackling the fire.

A number of road closures were put in place while the fire crews worked at the scene. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.

A Police statement said: “At this stage we are treating the incident as arson and our investigation is in the early stages. Two people have been arrested on suspicion of arson and are currently in police custody.
