AT the next meeting of the Chalkwell Ward Residents Association, in a talk by Ian Currie, the Association will present its newly published Chalkwell Character Study.

Mr Currie will present highlights from the book, alongside other information which, for reasons of space, did not make it into print. Researched and written by the members of CWRA’s Chalkwell Heritage Group, this 50-page booklet looks at the history, development and character of the ward and the special features that mark it out.

It also identifies a wealth of sources of information on local history, planning, architecture and building materials for residents to use. A spokesperson said the Association is looking forward to sharing all of this among the local community.

After a short refreshment break, the meeting will conclude with discussion of ward issues, in which members are updated on matters affecting the ward, and generally have the chance to raise matters of local concern and question ward councillors, who regularly report back on ward-related matters.

This meeting will take place at Westcliff Baptist Church, 560 London Road, Westcliff, SS0 9HS, on Wednesday, September 10, starting at 7:30pm.

Entry is free to members. Annual membership costs £5 per year per individual or £10 per household (adults only) (April-March). Non-members may attend the meeting in an observer-only capacity at a cost of £5 per person.

Following the presentation, copies of the book will be distributed to all CWRA member households.
