Leigh’s Christmas Celebration

AS the festive season approaches, Leigh is set to sparkle once again with its ‘Light Up Leigh’ celebration.
On Friday 28th November 2025, residents and visitors alike are invited to experience the warmth, community spirit, and festive cheer that make Leigh such a special place at Christmas.
Hosted by Leigh Town Council, this evening will see the town transformed into a winter wonderland, with celebrations taking place across Leigh Library Gardens, Leigh Community Centre, Broadway, and Leigh Road.
The event brings together the very best of Leigh’s independent spirit — local shops staying open late, the sound of church bells ringing from St. Clements Church, and the joyful voices of choirs singing around the beautifully decorated Christmas tree in Leigh Library Gardens.
Families can begin the festivities at 4:30pm with special children’s activities at Leigh Community Centre (booking required), before the traditional bell ringing at St. Clements Church fills the air at 6:00pm.
At 6:10pm, the choir will gather around the Christmas tree to perform timeless carols, creating the perfect festive atmosphere.
The evening will continue with music, mince pies, and mulled wine at the Community Centre from 6:30pm, offering the ideal chance to relax and soak up the holiday spirit.
Throughout the night, the Broadway and Leigh Road will come alive with twinkling lights and open shop doors, inviting visitors to browse for unique gifts and enjoy a spot of late-night shopping. Whether it’s discovering a handmade treasure, enjoying a warm drink with friends, or simply taking in the sights and sounds of the season, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
