MAJOR works on Leigh footways along the A13 are set to commence this June.

The works, as part of investment by Southend City Council into local roads and pavements over the next five years, will see the footway between the junction with Cricketfield Grove and Nelson Road on the norther side, and the junction between Rockleigh Drive and Leigh Road on the southern side, resurfaced.

The works will last for approximately two and a half months.

A council spokesperson said: “During the works, the contractor will cone and barrier off the sections that they will be working on.

“Any on-street parking or parking bays within these sections, to both sides of the road in most cases, will be suspended, so please ensure that vehicles are parked elsewhere during these times – advanced warnings will be placed out on site closer to the time of the works being carried out.

“The contractors will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum, but there may be times when access to residents’ property is restricted.

“Should you have any concerns, please speak with personnel on site, who will help where required.”
