Ambitious Expansion Plans

A SOUTH Essex MP and a Council Leader have lent their support to plans to add an extension to a popular GP Practice in their area.
Rayleigh & Wickford MP, Mark Francois and Leader of Rochford District Council, Coun Danielle Belton, met with the Head of the Jones Family Practice in Hockley, Professor Dr Mahmoud and his Practice Manager, Kerri-Ann Lee, to talk about their proposals for a first floor extension, following recent organisational changes in the local NHS.
Mr Francois has been talking to the Practice about their expansion plans for some time now and, therefore, organised the meeting to try to work out what progress the Practice had made to date and how they can go about seeking approval from the new Combined Integrated Care Board for Essex, to move forward with this important project.
If the Practice goes ahead with its current plans, then it will look to build a first-floor extension to their current building which would, amongst other things, provide seven additional consulting rooms.
As a result, the Practice would be able to treat more patients and train more GPs, both of which would benefit the local community.
Commenting after the meeting, Mr Francois said: “Having recently helped the Riverside Medical Centre in Hullbridge with their extension, I do hope that the Jones Family Practice in Hockley will be equally successful with their ambitions.
“NHS bureaucracy has previously hampered the progress of the Practice’s much needed plans, but I’m very hopeful that, following the creation of the newly formed Combined Integrated Care Board for Essex, these ambitious plans will come to fruition, for the benefit of my constituents.”
