Author‘s New Book

A LOCAL author is launching her new book this month.

Dee Gordon’s latest book Famous Essex Authors You Have Never Heard Of comprises over 40 illustrated mini-biographies of Essex authors from the recent and distant past, researched over many years, to enthral readers.

Ms Gordon explains: “Who knew, for instance, that a working class girl from Dagenham (Sheila Holland) would become so successful as a romantic novelist under her various pseudonyms that she went into tax exile on a mansion on the Isle of Man, or that a quiet introvert from Leigh was capable of writing raunchy novels about Arab sheikhs, although she had never travelled beyond England (Violet Winspear)?”

“Finding out why these people started writing, what motivated them, how they enjoyed success by using their lively imaginations, and how they sometimes struggled, has revealed a fascinating insight into the people of Essex.

“There is also a sprinkling of literary trivia.”

Ms Gordon’s book launch will take place at The Novel Coffee Shop, 100 London Road on Wednesday March 27 4.30 to 6 pm.

She adds: “The coffee shop will be open for attendees, but if you can’t make it, the book is available from essex100.com or Amazon.”
