BELFAIRS Residents Association held their annual Christmas Meeting at St Aidan’s Church Hall.
Over 90 members enjoyed magic tricks from Robert Dean of Balloonacy party shop, festive songs, a raffle, and Christmas refreshments alongside councillors from Belfairs and Castle Point.
Secretary Bob Hazell said: “Robert performed a number of magical card and other tricks. He even managed to appear to lose the ring of one of the councillors. All was not lost when the ring re-appeared, attached to Robert’s key ring in his back pocket.
“After the break there was music and a sing-along, led by another of the Association’s corporate sponsors, Lorraine Migliorini from Bluebell Music Academy on the keyboard with John leading the vocals.
“The music included several festive songs, which many of those present sang along to.
“The session finished with a wonderful rendition of New York, New York which was followed by aloud applause for a fine performance.”
The raffle and donations raised £171, which will be donated to the local charity St Vincents.
Bob added: “This is the Association’s chosen charity, that does so much to help the needy of Southend. Those living in the Belfairs area that wish to join the Residents Association should contact the Chair, Stephen Aylen on [email protected] or telephone 07434 857184.
Membership is £5.00 per household.
