DAVID Burton-Sampson saluted the work of Southend’s Ambulance Trust after spending a day out on the road with them.
The MP joined a team from the East of England Ambulance Service station on Aviation Way in the city, to experience first-hand the challenges they face.
He said it was a blue light experience right from the start and they encountered all kinds of medical emergencies from maternity to mental health.
Adding: “I have nothing but praise for all the work I have seen undertaken.
“The sheer professionalism and dedication I witnessed was incredible. These teams are working under constant pressure and always remain calm, consistently providing excellent medical advice and care.
“They were rushing off to another category one case as I finished my ‘shift.’ This job is not for the fainthearted!
“The ambulance service can be relied on to always respond and provide care but in reality, they are often tied up on call outs that could be handled by other emergency services.
“I was so impressed with what I saw. I cannot praise the members of the service highly enough. They were exceptionally proficient and I learned so much about the challenges they face.”
The MP was told by service staff how local recruitment had increased, which will help ensure the ability of the force to respond in the future.
