Ms Vermont said: ‘“After the rollercoaster we’ve been on creating Indirock through a pandemic and financial crisis, we’re beyond excited to reach this milestone of Indirock’s first year in business.

“We’ve been overwhelmed with the support of our community, and seeing the number of visitors we’re bringing into our borough from far and wide.”

The couple celebrated the milestone with Indirock’s first climbing competition, IndiBlock Stars, which saw finals taking place on Saturday March 4 at the Victoria Centre, Southend.

A spokesperson said: “After five months of anticipation building up to the finals, with one competition a month over the five months, the team at Indirock made it a night to remember.

“The atmosphere at the finals was buzzing, and congratulations to the winners: Jess Nolan – women’s gold; Adam Snow – men’s gold; Isabelle Pourrat – women’s silver; Freddie Waters – men’s silver; Shannon Dalton – women’s bronze, and Joe Parker – men’s bronze.

“Also awarded prizes were the “most improved” climbers across all six categories, which had
entries: M/F adults, U18s and U13s, plus one lucky raffle winner!

“Next year Indirock hope to see participants entering across their non-binary and paraclimber
categories as well.”
