Bus Name Competition

A LOCAL bus company is celebrating the naming of one of its new buses, following a successful competition won by a Leigh school pupil.
Stephenson’s Buses launched the competition to help name the first of its three new buses, with an entry from Edie of Leigh North Street winning the prize with ‘Bussy Boots’.
Ryan Scott of Stephenson’s said: “At the end of July, we revealed the first of three vehicles that have been named by the local primary schools across our Southend operating area… we are delighted to introduce Bussy Boots.”
During the name unveiling, youngster Edie got to climb into the cab and enjoyed pressing all the bus’s buttons.
Mr Scott said: “We have agreed that Edie will be driving our rail replacement services at the weekends during the school holidays… once she’s a little older!
“A huge thank you to Edie, who was an absolute superstar on the day, and to Edie’s mum for allowing us to share these photos.”
He added: “Building relationships with the local schools we serve, giving children the opportunity to get involved, and seeing the excitement and pride on their faces is exactly what community engagement is all about.
“Sometimes the smallest ideas create the biggest smiles.”
Stephenson’s will be revealing a further two named buses after the summer break.
