THE rail operator that serves south east Essex from Shoeburyness to Fenchurch Street has been named the best in the country for “on time” services.
c2c has announced its annual performance statistics for the past 12 months, which put the firm top of the charts for punctuality and reliability.
Newly published Network Rail figures for the year to March 31 show c2c ranked as the UK’s top train operator for both punctuality and reliability.
The figures cover the past year up to March 31 and are part of the annual Railway Performance statistics collated and published by Network Rail this week.
Rob Mullen, c2c managing director, said: “Providing customers with a safe, reliable and punctual service remains our number one priority.
“The latest annual statistics collated and published by Network Rail – which see us top the industry leaderboard – are testament to the hard work and dedication of the c2c team right across the route.
“c2c remains fully committed to providing customers with a high-quality, easy-to-access service, and we will be doing all we can to further enhance our service and improve on these already impressive figures.”
Industry figures comparing train operators across the country over a 12-month period show c2c ranked highest nationally for punctuality and reliability. Using the “Time to Three” (T3) measure — which records trains arriving within three minutes of schedule — c2c achieved a punctuality score of 91.9 per cent, while cancellations remained low at 1.7 per cent across its south Essex and east London routes.
Eleni Jordan, c2c’s commercial and business strategy director, added: “We are continuously reinvesting in our stations and the c2c network to ensure an even better experience for customers.
“In the last year we have introduced a wide range of improvements across our estate.”
The performance figures come alongside a strong commercial year for the operator.
c2c reported passenger numbers and ticket sales increasing during 2025/26.
Revenue rose by 10.6 per cent compared with the previous financial year, outperforming wider industry growth.
