A LEIGH care home welcomed a former West Ham footballer for the opening of their new coffee bar and bistro!
Anchor’s St Edith’s Court on Hillside Crescent, Leigh, celebrated the opening of its brand new, state of the art, coffee bar and bistro on Thursday 19 January at a function attended by residents, their relatives and members of the local community. Also in attendance was special guest former West Ham and Fulham footballer Brian Dear, who cut the ribbon to open the new bar and bistro.
To mark the official opening, guests enjoyed light refreshments in the new facilities. The new bar and bistro includes a specially designed bar area designed and decorated by members of the St Edith’s Court team and their loved ones. Residents will be able to enjoy homemade luxury coffee, tea and other refreshments while the bistro’s seating both indoors and outdoors in St Edith’s Court’s gardens.
Kerry Endicott, Manager of Anchor’s St Edith’s Court, said: “We’re delighted to be opening our new coffee bar and bistro and are very honoured to have had Brian mark the official opening for us! We’ve worked hard on the new facilities and my team did wonderful work to get everything looking so nice.
“We had some wonderful people volunteer to help us decorate and set up the new bar so I’d like to say a huge thank you to them too. Everyone here at Anchor’s St Edith’s Court is really excited to have our new bar and bistro open!”
David Hosking, aged 78 whose cousin, Joan, is a resident of St Edith’s Court, said how much he was looking forward to enjoying the bistro when he comes to visit: “Joan and I always like to go to a café when I come to see her but it’s not so fun to do when the weather’s bad. Now though, we won’t have to worry about that with this lovely new coffee bar!
“It’s got all the style of a nice coffee shop but we won’t have to worry about getting caught in the rain. I love coming to visit Joan here and the care team are wonderful.”
Brian Dear said: “It was very nice of Anchor’s St Edith’s Court to invite me to open this lovely new bar and bistro.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to has said how much they’re looking forward to having a coffee here and I can see why! It’s such a lovely spot.”
