Chairman’s Garden Party

THE Chairman of Rochford District Council welcomed civic dignitaries, community representatives and local businesses to this year’s Chairman’s Garden Party, where he officially launched the Rochford District Council Community Chest.
The new charitable initiative will support projects and organisations that help young people across the district, reflecting the Chairman’s chosen theme of creating opportunities for future generations.
Guests also heard from Jamie Sawtell of Bar ‘N’ Bus, who spoke about the positive impact volunteering and community support can have on the lives of young people, highlighting the importance of investing in the next generation.
Thanks to the generosity of guests, local businesses and organisations, the event raised more than £2,600 through a raffle, auction and donations. The funds will help support the Chairman’s charitable initiatives through the newly launched Community Chest.
Coun Simon Wootton, Chairman of Rochford District Council, said: “I am incredibly grateful to everyone who supported this year’s Garden Party.
“The generosity shown by our residents, businesses and community partners has been truly inspiring. The launch of the Rochford District Council Community Chest is an exciting step towards supporting projects that make a real difference to younger people across our district.
“Together, we are helping to create opportunities that will benefit future generations.”
The Chairman also thanked everyone who donated raffle and auction prizes, as well as the volunteers, council officers and guests whose support made the event such a success.
The Community Chest will continue to raise funds throughout the municipal year to support local initiatives that empower young people and strengthen communities across Rochford District.
