A RLSS Save and Survive Bronze and Silver Medallion course was held at Chalkwell Shelter for young people from Romford as part of Drowning Prevention Week.

This course was held at the Chalkwell Lifeguards Club HQ by Royal Life Saving Society National Trainer Assessor Simon Hatfield.

Drowning Prevention Week, run by the charity, aims to educate more people on the Water Safety Code to ensure everyone can stay safe in and around open water.

Research by shows that one in four adults in the UK would panic if they saw a stranger that had fallen into open water that was having difficulty and might drown.

Simon Hatfield said: “Widespread training for everyone in society is vital in the continuing campaign to save as many lives as possible in the sea, rivers, lakes and ponds all around our Country all year round.”
