A CRICKET event raised over £700 for a mental health charity.
The significant charity event took place on Sunday, August 6 at Hadleigh and Thundersley Cricket Club, held in honour of a cherished late friend, Darren Smith, who sadly decided to end his life.
Mr Smith was an ambassador and dedicated advocate for Andy’s Man Club, a nationwide mental health support group.
His influence extended deeply into the heart of South Essex, particularly with the Southend branch of Andy’s Man Club, where discussions were centred at Roots Hall.
Throughout the eventful day, a diverse range of activities contributed to the fundraising efforts. Generous donations poured in through activities such as a raffle, cake baking, a fun-filled “guess the sweets in the jar” challenge, and an engaging nerf shooting gallery.
One of the organisers said: “It was wonderful to raise awareness of the importance of mental health amongst men from all ages.”
The remarkable support received from both immediate and extended circles, including family, friends, and fellow members of AMC, led to a total contribution of £718 to the mental health charity.
