A SALVATION Army member has been celebrated as she takes retirement after almost six decades of community work.

Jenny Burriss was a children’s worker for 57 years for the Leigh Branch of the Salvation army.

Ms Burriss was presented with a letter recognising all her hard work, a certificate of appreciation and some photos of her ministry over the years.

A Facebook post by Legh Salvation Army, stated: “Jenny, we thank you for all your dedication and commitment.

“We know you have made a difference in the lives of many young people.”
