A SUMMER fayre will be held at a Westcliff church this July, opened by Southend’s new Mayor, Councillor Stephen Habermel.

The Mayor who chose St. Saviour’s for his Mayoral Installation Service, which took place on June 19, will officially open the Summer Fayre at 12.30 pm at St. Saviour’s Church in Kings Road, on Saturday the July 1.

All visitors are welcome to attend the event, which will offer plenty of attractions for young and old.

There will be a barbecue on site and cream teas will be available along with ice creams, cakes and other refreshments.

Inside the church building, art lovers will find two different exhibitions by local artists showcasing their talents.

During the afternoon there will entertainment provided by the Community Singers group led by musical director Victor Patterson.

In addition, there will be a cameo performance by Elvis Presley tribute performer Dave Waddingham.

Outside the church there will also be all the usual attractions; activities for children including opportunities to ‘paint a pebble’ and make a bug hotel; tombola stall, homemade crafts, pre-loved gifts and homegrown produce.

A spokesperson added: “St. Saviours Church is a host every Wednesday to the Southend Foodbank, and there will be the chance to make donations to worthy cause.

“St. Saviour’s hope for a bumper turn-out – and for the sun to shine.”
