SIMON Gittus, Acting Press Officer for the South East Essex Green Party, has contacted the Leigh-on-Sea News with the following letter: “We wish to highlight an inaccuracy in Kevin Buck’s Political Viewpoint in this fortnight’s paper. (online at https://leigh-on-sea.news/052726-political-viewpoint/)
“The article states that ‘Labour have once again formed a coalition and are supported by the Greens, the Lib Dems and the Independents.’
“This incorrectly suggests that the Green Group is part of a coalition with Labour, which is not the case. The Greens have not formed, nor ever been part of, any coalition with the Southend Labour Group.
“While three of our four Green councillors voted for Cllr Daniel Cowan to remain as Leader over Conservative Cllr James Courtenay, this was not done as part of any coalition, administration pact, or formal agreement with the administration. The Green Councillors are not whipped and can vote how they so wish to do so.
“We would appreciate it if this clarification could be published in the next edition.”
