RAYLEIGH’S popular arts and events centre will temporarily close over two months of the summer.

Mill Hall Arts & Events Centre will close from Monday 30 June to Monday 1 September 2025 to facilitate essential maintenance and improvement works that cannot be undertaken whilst the building is operational.

The works include preparing for the future installation of solar panels, replacement of internal doors, and the installation of new energy efficient measures within the building, to aid the Council in meeting its 2030 net zero target.

According to Rochford District Council, the closure has been scheduled for the quiet part of the year, to minimise disruption.

A council spokesperson said: “During this period, the team at the Mill Arts & Events Centre will continue to support existing bookings and hirers by assisting them in securing alternative venues, including Citizens Advice.

“Hirers who wish to receive this support are encouraged to contact the Centre directly using the provided contact details.”

During the period of the works’ completion, the Council reception at the Mill Arts & Events Centre will also be closed.
