ONGOING flooding, which left roads heavy with water in Eastwood recently may soon to benefit from the fruits of a councillor’s campaign.
Eastwood Lib Dem councillor, Paul Collins, has campaigned for more than a year to have “super-gullies” installed in Glenwood Avenue, after years of flooding, when excess water collects in the road.
It is hoped that the soon-to-be installed gullies will redirect floodwater into the drainage system, which has been causing residents problems for years.
Coun Collins said: “It has been a long battle to get these installed and the contractor, Eurovia, will be working on it.”
Coun Colins said that the work should start in early March.
He added: “ I will not be celebrating until they are installed though, between March 4 and March 15.
“This has been something we have had to fight to get funding for. Plans have had to be worked on with Anglian Water.
“It’s not as easy as digging a hole, it has been hard and I am pleased that residents are pleased.”
