LEIGH Town Council are offering residents ways to contribute to the festive effort with their winter coat appeal and their Advent Hamper.
Last year, the Advent Giving Hamper appeal was overwhelming well-supported with over 100 hampers donated and delivered to the Community Centre.
A spokesperson Leigh Town Council said: “It was a privilege to deliver these to local schools, churches and charities
knowing that families in need would benefit from them during the Christmas period.”
A statement made on Facebook said: “Thank you everyone who has delivered their hampers so far.
“The demand has been very high this year. We really want to hit our target number.
“If you wish to help us to make families in need Christmas magical, please deliver your hampers to Leigh Community Centre.”
The deadline for delivering hampers to Leigh Community Centre is December 15.
Leigh Town Council are also this year running their Winter Coat appeal. This appeal runs until January 31.
A spokesperson for Leigh Town Council added: “We collect coats, hats, scarves and gloves which will help Southend’s homeless and vulnerable stay warm in the winter months. Last year we delivered 40 sacks to SVP, a homeless charity in Southend and hope to be able to do the same again this year.”
